Alan Roura got off to an early start. After a childhood spent out on the water – on Lake Geneva, then with eleven years sailing around the world with his family – he lined up for his first major race at the age of just 20. The Mini Transat, Route du Rhum, Transat Jacques Vabre… Alan has been through (almost) everything and quickly acquired the skills required in ocean racing, before tackling the ultimate race, the 2016 Vendée Globe, in which he finished twelfth, becoming the youngest skipper in the history of the event to complete the race at the age of just 23. Four years later, he was once again the youngest racer at the start of the ninth Vendée Globe, which he finished in 17th place. Having suffered many technical problems, he nevertheless managed to complete his second solo round the world race in a row after 95 days of tough sailing, which taught him a lot that will be useful for his third attempt, which he is already working on. At the age of 29, the holder of the North Atlantic record is now aiming higher. Thanks to his experience, having matured and with the support of his new partners, the Swiss sailor hopes to be up there with the favourites at the helm of a boat that performs even better.
